- Package 03 · Backend Overhaul

The Untangle.

In four to six weeks, your backend goes from "we just kind of know how it works" to a properly documented, properly organised, properly findable operation that doesn't fall apart when someone's away.

Timeline 4–6 weeks
Investment From $4,000
Best for Established teams
For who

This is for you if...

You run an established business where the systems have grown organically. Nothing's documented. The founder is the bottleneck for everything. The team (if there is one) doesn't always know where things live.

You can feel the cost of it - the friction, the dropped balls, the way things stop when you stop. You know it needs fixing but every time you sit down to do it yourself, three other fires need putting out.

Your part

What I need from you.

The 4–6 week timeline assumes you're available for the work. To start I'll need:

  • Access to your current tools (PM systems, file storage, CRM, etc.)
  • Time for discovery sessions in week 1 (about 3–4 hours of your time across the week)
  • Honesty about what's actually broken - the audit only works if I get the real picture
  • If you have a team, their availability for a training session in week 5–6
Out of scope

What's not included.

  • Ongoing project management (that's what a retainer is for)
  • HR systems or payroll
  • Bookkeeping or financial systems setup - that's your accountant's territory
  • Legal structuring
FAQ

Frequently asked.

What if I find out in the audit I need more than 6 weeks of work?
That's exactly what the audit is for. After week 1 we'll either confirm the scope and proceed, or we'll agree on a different approach (retainer, multiple phases, etc.). You're never locked into a scope that doesn't fit.
Do you work with my existing tools or move me to new ones?
Whatever works. The point isn't to change everything - it's to make what you have actually work. Sometimes that means new tools. Often it just means proper setup of what you've already got.
Can the team be involved?
Yes, and I'd actually push for it. Backend overhauls work best when the people who'll use the system are part of building it.
What's the difference between this and a retainer?
The Untangle is a defined project with a start, middle, and end. A retainer is ongoing - I'm in your business each week running things alongside you. Many clients move from one to the other.
